14 Day Private Morocco Tour from Tangier to the Sahara and Marrakech

Casablanca to Casablanca, this 14-day private tour runs north to Tangier, east to Fes, south to the Sahara and back through Marrakech and Essaouira. Licensed local guides lead the visits in seven places, and one English-speaking driver stays with you in a private SUV with fuel included. Thirteen nights of accommodation include breakfast every day, and the group is limited to 14 guests.

Itinerary

Rabat opens the tour on Day 1, followed by Tangier on Day 2, Chefchaouen on Day 3, and Meknes, Volubilis and Fes on Days 4 and 5. Day 6 is the longest drive, about six and a half hours from Fes by way of Ifrane and the Midelt nature reserve to Erfoud, in the Ziz valley.

Days 7 and 8 cover the Sahara and the gorges, with a sunset camel ride at Erg Chebbi and a night in a luxury desert camp. The tour then crosses the High Atlas to Marrakech by way of Ait Ben Haddou, adds a guided day and a free day there, and finishes with a day on the coast at Essaouira before the return to Casablanca.

Location

Most of Morocco's imperial and coastal cities sit on this route. It begins on the Atlantic coast at Casablanca and Rabat, reaches the Strait of Gibraltar at Tangier, and climbs into the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, known as the Blue Pearl.

South of Fes the landscape opens out, from the cedar forests around Ifrane to the palm groves and fortified villages of the Ziz valley and the Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga. The tour returns through the gorges of Dades and Todra, Ait Ben Haddou and the Tizi n'Tichka pass, before ending in Marrakech, Essaouira and Casablanca.

Prerequisites

Stamina matters more than skill on this tour. Several days are long, with drives of four to six and a half hours broken up by stops, and the drive from Fes to Erfoud on Day 6 is the longest.

Visits are on foot, through medinas, kasbahs and gorges, and there is a camel ride on Day 7. Tell the team in advance about any mobility needs, health conditions or dietary requirements so that the days and the stays can be planned around them.

Why Choose Us

One English-speaking driver stays with you from the first day to the last, and licensed local guides take over for the visits in Rabat, Tangier, Chefchaouen, Fes, Meknes, Volubilis and Marrakech. The guided visit and entrance fee for the interior of the Hassan II Mosque and for the Ait Ben Haddou kasbah are included.

The plan gives the long drives some breathing space, with a full guided day in Fes, a guided day and a free day in Marrakech, and a sunset by the sea at Essaouira. The group is limited to 14 guests.
